  1. Summer Reading Program 2017 ~ Build a Better World

    June 1, 2017, 10:00 AM - July 31, 2017, 7:00 PM @ Minden Library and Zephyr Cove Library

    All children and teens are invited to participate in the 2017 Summer Reading Program. “Build a Better World” is this year’s theme with a children’s program for ages 0 to 11 and a teens’ program for ages 12 to 17.

    The program runs from June 1 to July 31 at the Minden and Zephyr Cove branches. Children and teens who participate will earn prizes while they maintain and build their reading skills during summer break.

    The online registration form can be filled out and printed from home through the library website, douglas.lib.nv.us, or at either branch.

  2. Saturday Family Movie ~ Moana

    The Minden Library is showing "Moana" (rated PG) in the meeting room! The movies and fresh popcorn are free.

    Toddler Storytime will continue at the Minden Library on Tuesdays June 6 through July 25 at 10:30 a.m. Felt board stories, songs and musical instruments are included. For children ages three and younger.

  4. Lego Build Tuesdays

    June 27, 2017, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Put your master Lego builder skills to the test! The Minden Library will be hosting a Lego Build on Tuesdays from June 6 through July 25. Listen to a story and recreate it using Lego bricks.

    Lego bricks and building materials will be provided by the library. Lego Build Tuesdays are for children ages four and up. Exercise your creativity and build something awesome at the library! Lego Build Tuesdays are sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.

  5. Storytime at Lampe Park

    Enjoy stories at the park! The library will provide storytime at Lampe Park on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. from June 7 through July 26. Crafts will be included. Storytime will be held near the Farmer’s Market. Children of all ages are welcome.

  7. READing Paws Summer Program ~ Read with a Therapy Dog

    June 29, 2017, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

    A READing Paws therapy dog will be available at the Minden Library. Reading with animals can help children feel calm, gain confidence, and become strong readers.

    Children of all ages and reading levels are invited to read with a registered therapy dog and the dog’s handler. Each child will spend 15 minutes with a dog. Time slots are available on a first come, first serve basis.

    Parental permission is required, and permission forms are available at the library. This program is offered in partnership with READing Paws, a local affiliate of Intermountain Therapy Animals.

  8. Storytime at the Dangberg Home Ranch

    The Douglas County Public Library presents Storytime at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. Children of all ages are invited. Enjoy stories and a craft in the beautiful historic setting.

    The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park is located at 1450 Highway 88 in Minden. The park preserves the buildings and collection of artifacts from four generations of the Dangbergs. The family and their business, the Dangberg Land and Livestock Co., were influential in the development of Carson Valley and founded the town of Minden in 1905.
