  1. Children's Summer Reading Program continues until July 30

    The Douglas County Public Library invites all kids to participate in its 2016 Summer Reading Program.

    “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ!” is the theme of the children’s program for ages 0 to 11. The program runs from June 1 to July 30 at the Minden and Zephyr Cove branches.

    Encourage young people to read during summer vacation with a magic show, a wild animal program, storytimes, reading prizes, and much more! The online registration form can be filled out and printed from home through the library website, douglas.lib.nv.us, or at either branch.

  2. Teen Summer Reading Program continues until July 30

  5. Lego Tuesdays

    June 28, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

    Put your master Lego builder skills to the test!

    Listen to a story and build part of that story from 3:00 to 4:00. Create whatever you’d like in the Free Build period from 4:00 to 5:00.

    Lego bricks and building materials will be provided by the Library. Lego Tuesdays are for children ages 6 and up. Exercise your creativity and build something awesome at the Library!

  6. Lampe Park Storytime and Crafts

    June 29, 10:30 AM

    The Douglas County Public Library presents Storytime at Lampe Park starting Wednesday, June 1.

    It will continue every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. through July 27. All ages are invited. The program includes stories, music, and crafts.

  7. Summer Movie Matinee ~ The Monuments Men

    June 29, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

    Need a break from the summer heat? Cool off at the Douglas County Public Library with a Summer Movie Matinee!

    The library will be showing the movie The Monuments Men (rated PG-13).

    The showing will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Minden Library Meeting Room. Fresh popcorn and beverages will be provided.

  8. READing Paws Summer Schedule

    June 30, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

    Reading with animals can help children feel calm, gain confidence, and become strong readers.

    Children of all ages and reading levels are invited to read with a registered therapy dog and the dog’s handler. Each child will spend 15 minutes with a dog. Time slots are available on a first come, first serve basis.

    Parental permission is required, and permission forms are available at the library.

    This program is offered in partnership with READing Paws, a local affiliate of Intermountain Therapy Animals.
